“I went here with other members of tour group during a one day city tour of Hanoi. The food was decidedly indifferent as perhaps one might expect from an inclusive meal in a tour. Perhaps I am being a little unfair, but if this were my first experience of Vietnamese cuisine, I would have been singularly unimpressed.”
“This was a recommendation from the staff of our hotel where we stayed . We went on our first night in Hanoi. Actually was pretty good, real Vietnamese food. We ordered duck in tamarin sauce and chicken in honey sauce, which was delicious. The staff is super friendly!.”
“Booking with countryside was seamless. The were amenable to a customized menu, since there were several Vietnamese recipes we wanted to learn. We cued up 6 recipes. Chef Trien and assistant Phoeng were fantastic. We started off learning how to make the broth for Pho…and wow… it is so incredible to understand the work and time behind good Pho. We then took a trip to the market (abut 10 minute walk) to find ingredients for the cooking (this part of the class could be nixed if you have experienced a Vietnamese market prior to the class). Chef and Phoeng took great care of us, ensuring we didn’t get munched by scooters or cars along the way Then back to the kitchen to learn to cook some of our favorites. Chef did a great job patiently teaching us, and helping us with our technique (chopping, making veggie flowers, flipping crepes and Veitnamese pancakes etc. The food was delicious. Thank you Countryside, Chef Trien and Phoeng for a lovely experience!”
