“Milan at the Intercontinental was about to get a hammering from me. But then it all changed.
I ordered the foie gras starter and specifically ordered it rare as they often overcook it in Asia (not sure why). And guess what, it was overcooked still. When I mentioned it to the waiter he offered another but I declined. Shortly after, the manager approached to take my secondi and asked me about the issue including the specifics of how it should be prepared. He offered to deduct the cost from the bill or replace the dish and if I was still unhappy about the replacement take that off the bill too. While awaiting the replacement he brought a complementary salad. I wasn’t looking for a free dish, but that’s what you get at a 5*. OK a good 5*.
So how was the replacement? Overcooked again. But then, I was offered to have dinner with the Executive Chef tomorrow. And still not billed for the dish. So the only looser was my waistline after eating 2 less than perfect dishes. So 4* + a bonus * for service and personal attention.
Then finished off with a Quatro Stagioni pizza for good measure and I was done.”
